Isobutyl alcohol (isobutanol)

Octane-enhancing fuel additive, according to the EURO-5 protocol, can be used in the composition of gasoline up to 10%.

The main advantage of isobutanol is its low cost, and with the right approach, it becomes a very effective high-octane additive.

It is used in the production of paintwork materials (paints, nitro enamels), butyl acetate, plasticizers, additives for lubricating oils, phenol-formaldehyde resins.

Isobutanol is used as a solvent for surface coatings and adhesives, as a good fat extractant, in cosmetics, solvents, cleaning agents and hydraulic fluids, as well as in the synthesis of organic compounds.
The most famous use of isobutanol is in the paint and varnish industry. It is part of many numbered solvents, washes, oil additives. Along with butanol, isobutanol is used for the production of butyl acetate, butyl acrylate, plasticizers and resins.

It is used as an extractant for fats, in some types of cosmetics, hydraulic fluids and cleaning agents, and in the chemical industry for the synthesis of organic compounds. Also used as additive to nitrocellulose and rubbers, desiccant, component of printing inks. Due to its low cost, it can be used as a substitute for n-butanol.
